Spiteri Page 18            Titov                                                             Manarov Saturday September 10th and Sunday September 11th 1988 The cosmonauts had the weekend-off and on the Sunday took part in "The Race Against Time". Monday September 12th 1988 Progress 38 docked to Mir at 01:22 GMT bringing the usual supplies of new fuel, food, water, mail and other equipment. Tuesday September 13th 1988 The cosmonauts began unloading Progress and continued astrophysical experiments of the Large Magellanic Galaxy. Wednesday September 14th and Thursday September 15th 1988 The cosmonauts carried out ecological studies, assessing the conditions of rivers and lakes in Siberia and the European part of the Soviet Union. They also studied the damage done to the environment by industry. Friday September 16th 1988 Dr. Valery Polyakov conducted a medical check and pronounced that all the crew are in good shape. Saturday September 17th and Sunday September 18th 1988 Weekend-off for the crew. Monday September 19th 1988 The cosmonauts conducted earth resources studies. Tuesday September 20th 1988 The crew began a new series of materials processing experiments. Wednesday September 21st 1988 Today was the ninth month in space for Titov and Manarov who received congratulations from Mission Control. Meanwhile, they continued to unload the Progress cargo craft. Thursday September 22nd 1988 Radio Moscow announced that Titov and Manarov would return to earth on December 21st thus completing a full year in space. Dr. Polyakov would remain aboard with the fresh crew. Friday September 23rd 1988 The cosmonauts completed another working week aboard Mir. They did astrophysical and geophysical experiments, unloaded Progress 38 and Dr. Polyakov examined Titov and Manarov. Saturday September 24th and Sunday September 25th 1988 Rest days. Monday September 26th 1988 The crew today did earth resources studies under the Intercosmos programme. Tuesday September 27th 1988 There was a continuation of earth studies; in particular, the cosmonauts took pictures of the European part of the Soviet Union to study the conditions of soil and vegetation. Wednesday September 28th to Friday September 30th 1988 The cosmonauts took surveys of the Pamir and Tien Shan mountains.
