The Stamps of Mercury - unidentified Plus Trucial States and 'Appendix' Countries Mercury  Mercury 3  Mercury 4  Mercury 6  Mercury 7  Mercury 8  Mercury 9      Mercury Unidentified Mercury 2 stamps The Mercury project was preceded by test firings carrying primates, whose successful flights on so-called suborbital paths, (dropping just short of orbit) and then into orbit itself, paved the way for the men who were to follow. Mercury 2 was one of these flights. Administrations issuing stamps greatly in excess of true postal needs have the stamp issues placed in the Appendix. The following stamps have either been issued in excess of postal needs or have not been available to the public in reasonable quantities at face value. Since there is no S.G. numbers for these stamps, the following Mercury stamps have the numbers from the Weebau catalogue. Other catalogue numbers might be added at a later date.
