The sheet selvage includes astronaut Neil Armstrong's message from the Moon to Mission Control, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."Mars Pathfinder IssueUnited StatesDate of issue Dec. 10, 1997Issued by the United States on Dec. 10, 1997, this mint souvenir sheet includes a large (38mm x 76mm) $3 Priority Mail rate stamp. The sheet saluted the Pathfinder mission that had reached the surface of Mars the previous July 4. Facts about the mission are printed on the back of the sheet (in the selvage), including that Mars Pathfinder landed in the Ares Vallis region of Mars and that the land rover, Sojourner (featured on the stamp), measures approximately 2 feet by 1.5 feet by 1 foot and travels at a speed of only 0.4 inches per second.
